Letter to the editor of straits times

To the editor of straits times,

About the recent Japanese earthquake and tsunamis, I feel that there could be a lot to be learnt. As a Singaporean, from the devastating damage caused, I feel that what Singaporean can learn is on how to handle such danger, and learn more life-saving technique, for example, preparing a bag filled with neccessities that could be used when such danger occur, or to look for a table to go under when an earthquake strikes. Even though Singapore should be safe fro such disaster, but such knowledge would stillcome into use some part. Singaporean can also learn to stay calm when such incident occurs, an important factor that Singaporean seems to lack.

Do the nation have what it takes to handle a similiar crisis? Frankly, I feel that the answer in no. It is not that the government do not have such capability, it is that they still lack experiences. However, even so, I feel that the deplomatic relationship with other countries Singapore had established would come in handy in future. If the nation starts working now, I am quite sure that Singapore would be capable on handling such situation
