Comic strip assignment reflection

Through the assignment, I realised that there could be more than a way of expressing an idea or a thought. Normally, we would express our ideas in terms of words and paragraphs. But through this assignment, I could also convey my ideas in terms of comic strips. Through comic strips, we can form the whole "backbone" of an essay in just four graphics, including the introduction, development, climax, and the ending.

I think that this is quite an effective way of plotting a story, especially a narrative writing. Through the visual, one would be able to write the story effectively as one would not have to imagine the settings. Since the comic strips include the main points of the whole story, we can write our story only based on the comic strip, hence would not get out of point easily. This can prevent us from only touching the point but not develop the content well. If there is more than one scene in the climax, we can also use the 6-box comic strips.

I feel that from the assignment, I can use my creativity to express my ideas. Also, difference expressions of the character can easily be linked to the various thoughts and feelings of the character I am writing about.

However, one thing I think about the producing of comic strip is that one may not have good illustration skills and others may misinterpret us. If we were to use it as a way to plot our story, it is also quite time exhausting.

Overall, I liked the assignment a lot as I feel that it was really interesting. Through such assignment, although there had been difficulties, the end product of the assignment was definitely worth the effort.
